In 2009's The Blind Side, Sandra Bullock plays Leigh Anne Tuohy — a Tennessee mother who brings Michael Oher into her home and ostensibly adopts him.

The film grossed more than $300 million and earned Bullock the Oscar for Best Actress (her first Academy Award). Oher would go on to become a professional football player in the NFL.

He would also come to learn a shocking truth: Leigh Ann and her husband, Sean, did not legally adopt him. According to a petition filed in court last week, the Tuohy family placed Oher in a conservatorship.

As such, they were able to make decisions on his behalf and, as Oher claims, profit off of him. Oher claims that it wasn't until February of this year that he found out he wasn't legally part of the family.

Since the filing of the petition, the Tuohys have said they will terminate the conservatorship.

Fashion

Copenhagen Fashion Week has come to a close, and Vogue says that one thing is clear: "Fashion is rocking in the state of Denmark."

So, what trends were spotted at the spring 2024 shows? Here are a few.

  • Layering
  • Head scarves and hats
  • Cropped jackets
  • Statements bras

But before we jump to spring, let's unpack fall. What can you expect to see during the pre-fall season? Vogue has its eye on a denim maxi skirt from Agolde, a crinkled-satin midi skirt from Max Mara and a leather blazer from Remain Birger Christensen, among other things.

As we move closer to a new month, we get a look at magazine cover stars. Take a look at September covers from publications like GQ, Gay Times and Rolling Stone.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute has announced an upcoming exhibit that will highlight the artistry of women fashion designers.

Opening on December 7, "Women Dressing Women" will feature works from designers like Elsa Schiaparelli, Ann Lowe and Iris van Herpen. In total, more than 70 womenswear designers will be featured, with works spanning from 1910 to 2022.

Music

Madonna has officially (but quietly) announced new dates for her rescheduled "Celebration" tour. As previously announced, the tour will kick off in Europe before coming to North America in December.

Plus, Rina Sawayama has announced a reissue of her sophomore album, Hold the Girl. The reissue gives the album a new cover image, one that Rina says "encapsulates the album and all of its themes ..."

NEW MUSIC ALERT: Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande all have releases coming up ... on the same day. On August 25, Miley will release her single, "Used To Be Young," Selena will release "Single Soon," and Ariana will revisit Yours Truly for its 10-year anniversary (which will include a deluxe digital release).
